Family half-term: Cape Town & Safari

From £2,240 per adult

This 6-night / 7-day family half-term holiday combines the excitement of Cape Town with the thrill of an off-road safari in the private Timbavati Game Reserve, bordering Kruger National Park.

Itinerary

On this trip you will visit:
  • Cape Town
  • Kruger Park Area
  • Timbavati & Beyond
  • Waterfront to Bantry Bay
Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on the Saturday evening to Cape Town
Days 2 - 5
Cape Town
On arrival, collect your Group C hire car which is a standard 4 door sedan vehicle with umlimited mileage and comprehensive insurance.

Stay four nights in Romney Park Suites, a stylish, 5 star, self-catering apartment-hotel situated close to the Waterfront, in Green Point. Balconies have great views of Table Mountain, the kitchen is well equipped, and there's a pool and wellness centre. Eat out, order in from the hotel chef or self cater as suits.

There is much to see in Cape Town, and your days will be packed: take the cable car up Table Mountain, drive along the scenic Cape Peninsular route and see the penguin colony, visit the famous Waterfront with its many shops and restaurants, take a boat trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, enjoy the beach at Camps Bay, or tour the Winelands. It isn't hard to fill your time here.
Days 6 - 8
Timbavati Game Reserve
On day six, return your car at Cape Town airport and fly to Hoedspruit via Johannesburg, to connect with a road transfer to the Timbavati Game Reserve. Arrive at Umlani Bush Lodge for a 3 night stay, in time to freshen up and have some tea before your afternoon game drive.

At Umlani you will enjoy all meals and twice daily game drives as well excellent escorted bush walks. After one of your evening drives, you can opt to stay out over night in the Umlani Treehouse - you couldn't get any closer to the African bush! You'll have a comfy bedroll, mosquito nets, basic provisions, search-light and radio. Make sure you take your binoculars.

Note: Families with younger children may find the children's programme at Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape more attractive.
Day 9
After the morning game drive and breakfast you will transfer by road from Timbavati Game Reserve and to Johannesburg, to catch the evening flight to the UK, landing at London Heathrow early on Sunday morning.
Day 10
Arrive London early morning
