This luxury holiday is a real treat that works well for both families and couples wanting an exclusive escape. The Northern Borders is a vast area of semi-desert punctuated by simple stone buildings with large verandahs and wind pumps. It’s also home to two of South Africa’s world class, 5-star lodges – Bushmans Kloof (a member of Relais & Chateaux) and Tswalu Kalahari. Both are conservation success stories, and offer a unique combination of wildlife and culture experiences as well as a host of activities, with Tswalu’s meerkats a star attraction. Add Cape Town's Cape Grace into the mix and you have a selection of properties that offer a truly world-class experience.
All these lodges are deeply committed to conservation and community support and this ethos contributes profoundly to the richness of the experience here. Guests regularly comment that they felt welcomed on a very deep level and that the staff were utterly genuine and engaging.
Tswalu and Cape Grace both have Fair Trade in Tourism accreditation.
