On this 'escape to the Cape' holiday you can explore Cape Town's historical city centre with its vibrant mix of cultures, see Cape Point Nature Reserve where two oceans meet, penguin spot on Boulders Beach or simply enjoy the sun setting over the ocean from the Camps Bay beach. Then set off on a tour of the Winelands. Explore the nearby gourmet haven of Franschhoek or off-the-beaten-track, laid-back towns like Paarl and Robertson.

Itinerary

Depart from London Heathrow on direct overnight flight to Cape Town
Arrive early morning, collect your hire car and head into Cape Town for a 4-night stay at The Clarendon Fresnaye on the `platinum mile` of Bantry Bay with cafes and shops to explore. Accommodation here is in a superior room with breakfasts included. This is an central base from which to explore Cape Town and its surrounds, with restaurants and nightlife nearby, easy access to the Waterfront and a short drive to the Table Mountain cable car. It's also an convenient drive to Camps Bay and the famous scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive which takes you on to the Cape Point Nature Reserve and the penguins at Boulders Beach. Book ahead if you'd like a trip to Robben Island, particular in the summer months.
A 40 minute scenic drive takes you into the Famous Franschhoek, The French Corner or South Africa, for a 3-night stay at Avondrood Guest House, perfectly situated in the heart of Franschhoek in a superior room with breakfasts included. Franschhoek is a picturesque village set in a mountain valley and surrounded by vineyards. The vines were first planted by French Huguenots who fled here in the 17th century. Have lunch at one of the many wine estates and take advantage of the many opportunities to sample the fine wines of the area, cheese farms and even olive stores. Do visit the nearby oak lined historical cobbled streets of the University town of Stellenbosch and less known wine land towns of Paarl, Wellington and Riebeek Kasteel to the north.
Return your vehicle to the Cape Town airport to check in for return direct overnight flight to London Heathrow.
