Depart the UK for your flight to Lima where on arrival you will be transferred to Hotel B located in the fashionable, arty area of Barranco. Lima - Sacred Valley
Transfer to the airport for the short flight to Cuzco. Your first experience of the wonderful Peruvian Highlands will be the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Lower in altitude than Cuzco this area is great for acclimatisation. For your two night stay at the Sol y Luna - relax and enjoy!

Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu
Transfer to Ollantaytambo station for the Vistadome service to Aguas Calientes. From the panoramic windows enjoy the changing scenery and you get ever closer to the majestic Machu Picchu. With your private guide enjoy a tour of the citadel and learn about the Inca history and discovery in 1911 by American explorer Hiram Bingham. Lunch is included at the famous Belmond Sanctuary Lodge located just outside the entrance gate. After your awe inspiring day retreat to your luxurious hotel in the village of Aguas Calientes where you can relax, enjoy a delicious dinner at Cafe Inkaterra.

Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Free morning to return to Machu Picchu and perhaps even climb Huaya Picchu (the backdrop to the citadel). The hotel also offers a variety of included excursions such as nature walks, orchid trails, birding or even learning about medicinal plants. Afternoon departure, returning to Cuzco by a combination of train and bus. The next couple of nights are spent at the El Mercado Tunqui, a relatively new addition to the hotel scene in Cuzco, and the site of a former market.

With your private guide explore Cuzco, a city founded from Inca Palaces. Highlights include Koricancha (Temple of the Sun) to admire the intricate masonry of the Incas, the Cathedral flanking the main square, Plaza de Armas to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman which overlooks the city.The entrance ticket provided with the tour also allows entry to many of the other tourist attractions in Cuzco such as the church of San Blas.
Cuzco - Iquitos (Amazon gateway)
Fly via Lima to Northern Peru and the Amazon gateway of Iquitos, the largest city in the world with no road access. For the next 3 nights you will sail through this majestic rain forest, and on the mighty Amazon river itself, in comfort on board the M/V Aria. Depending on when you travel the exact itinerary will vary. High water is December to May, low water from June to November. Both options enable you to view a diverse amount of wildlife. Evening departure from Iquitos before dinner is served at around 8pm. The cuisine is world class and created by Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino. His restaurant, Malabar, is one of the finest in Lima.

Amazon - low water - Amazon/Tahuayo Rivers and Charo Lake
Before breakfast take your first wildlife trip on the Amazon River. Morning is a fantastic time for wildlife spotting as the rain forest comes alive. After breakfast travel through the Huaysi canal to the Tahuayo black water river. Floating down the Tahuayo will immerse you in this unique region. The guide will also point out wildlife and you may spot terns, orioles, blackbirds, black collared hawks, monkeys and sloth. Charo Lake is an ideal spot to catch one of Amazonia’s fearsome piranhas and other species. Most of the afternoon is at leisure following lunch before leaving the boat at around 4pm to the Yacapana Islands and the possibility of dolphin spotting. As the sun sets you will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to spot grey and pink freshwater dolphins.
Amazon - Maranon River/Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve
Morning guided jungle walk through primary forest to learn about sustainable projects in Amazonia. Visit a project where the local villagers are planting palms to yield oil. Deep in the jungle you encounter more wildlife and learn about the medicinal value of various jungle plants. Late afternoon, after lunch and siesta, take the skiff for an excursion to possibly see howler and capuchin monkeys, the squirrel-sized monkeys called tamarins, and a vast variety of birds.
Amazon - Lima
Pre-breakfast excursion along the Ucayali River to Yucuruche Lake. A short walk into the jungle takes you to the world’s largest aquatic plant, the giant water lilies or “Victoria Regias”. As you enjoy breakfast the boat continues it’s journey, skirting the edge of the immense Pacaya-Samiria Reserve. After lunch, disembark and visit the Manatee Rescue Centre where endangered animals, seized from local people and fisherman, are taken into care. Learn about the project and see how the manatees are cared for and prepared for release back to their natural habitat. Transfer to the airport for the short flight back to Lima where you will overnight, once again at the Hotel B.
Lima - UK
Now you have experience the wonderful cuisine of Peru learn more about the special ingredients by visiting a local market to shop for the fish, fruit, and vegetables used in Peruvian food. Watch the chefs prepare the typical dishes such as lomo saltado and ceviche. Complete your gastronomy experience with lunch at the fantastic La Rosa Nautica, located on the pier. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
