This is Madagascar for the discerning traveller, a luxury holiday focussing on the Masoala and Anjajavy peninsulas, perhaps the two best showcases for the natural highlights of this wonderful island. With well-furnished accommodation, expert guiding and superb seafood, this is back to nature without compromising on creature comforts. Masoala Forest Lodge is a tented camp, with the tented rooms under thatch, set in primary rainforest adjacent to the Tampolo Marine Park. In contrast, Anjajavy borders a dry forest reserve that protects unique wildlife, with accommodation in beach-side air-conditioned, two-storey villas.

Day 1
Depart on overnight flight from London to Antananarivo via Nairobi
Day 2
On arrival into Antananarivo, you will be met and transferred by road to the Tamboho Hotel for a 1 night stay, breakfast included.

Visit highlights of the capital in the afternoon with your guide.

Day 3
Masoala National Park
Fly to Maroantsetra, the gateway to the 230,000-hectare Masoala National Park, where you will be met for the scenic boat transfer along the Bay of Antogil. Travel between June and September to stand a good chance of seeing humpback whales.

Stay 4 nights in one of the five comfortable tented rooms with en suite facilities and hot running water at Masoala Forest Lodge, all meals and scheduled activities included.

Days 4 - 6
Masoala National Park
Three full days enjoying the extraordinary Masoala Peninsula. This is the only area in Madagascar where the lush rainforest rolls off the hills to meet the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Seek the Red-ruffed lemur and other unique species of lemur, bird and reptile, snorkel over pristine reefs or take out a sea-kayak.
Day 7
Nosy Mangabe
Travel by boat to Nosy Mangabe for a picnic and day walk on this island reserve. Overnight in Masoala Lodge with breakfast and dinner included.
Day 8
Travel back to Maroantsetra Airport for the flight to Antananarivo. On arrival you will be met and transferred by road to the Tamboho Hotel for a 1 night stay with breakfast included.

Time allowing, visit the World Heritage Site of Ambohimanga and the national zoo for its nocturnal house, where there are now seven Aye Ayes as part of an international breeding programme.

Day 9
Transfer to the airport for the scenic private airline flight to exclusive Anjajavy on Madagascar's remote northwest coast.

Stay 7 nights in an air-conditioned sea-facing villa enjoying the height of Malagasy hospitality and one of Madagascar's premier wildlife-watching hotspots. All meals and scheduled activities are included.

Days 10 - 15
Six full days to do as much or as little as you please. Take an excursion to the sacred baobabs and tsingy at Moromba Bay, a guided walk through the heart of the forest or a sunset cruise in the mangroves. The game-fishing is world class. Alternatively, watch the lemurs from your verandah or over afternoon tea in The Oasis, relax on the beach or by the pool, or walk along the coast from cove to cove.
Day 16
Fly to Antananarivo where you will be met and checked in for the Kenya Airways flight departing to Nairobi at mid day for London via Nairobi.
