This is an easy two-week holiday in Madagascar combining stunning lemur-rich rainforests and a lovely eco-sensitive hotel on a reef-protected beach on Ile Ste Marie. The Andasibe-Mantadia National Park protects 11 species of lemur as well as enormous Parson's chameleon and birds such as the Blue coua and Nuthatch vanga. To the north see the Diademed sifaka and the nocturnal Goodman's Mouse lemur. On Ile Ste Marie, Princesse Bora Lodge is also home to a research project for the protection of marine mammals and is a great place to whale-watch June through to November.

Day 1

Fly with Kenya Airways from London (or selected regional airports) to Nairobi.

Day 2

Antananarivo & Andasibe-Mantadia National Park (Perinet)

Connect with onward flight to Antananarivo. You will be met by your guide and your driver for the journey east to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park.

Begin your exploration of the reserve in search of the Indri and other lemurs. Evening walk in the rainforest for nocturnal species. Stay 3 nights at Vakona Forest Lodge, breakfast, dinner and four days in the rainforest reserves of Perinet and Mantadia with your private driver and guide included.

Days 3 - 4

Mantadia National Park

Explore the primary rainforest of Mantadia National Park to seek Diademed sifaka, Black-and-white ruffed lemurs, the insectivorous tenrecs and the rainforest-dependent ground rollers. You may wish to take a picnic lunch and eat it beside a waterfall.

Day 5

Antananarivo

You have most of the morning for the rainforest before you are driven to the capital. Overnight at Tamboho Hotel, breakfast included.

Day 6

Ile Ste Marie

You will be driven to the airport for the flight to Ile Ste Marie for a 6-night stay in a double comfort bungalow at Princesse Bora Lodge, with breakfast and dinner included.

Complimentary lodge activities include snorkelling, kayaking, use of bicycles, sauna, Jacuzzi and swimming pool.

Activities with a surcharge include spa treatments, fishing, day excursions, rental of motorbike or quad bikes, fishing and scuba diving.

Days 7 - 11

Ile Ste Marie

Enjoy the beach, discover the offshore islands, see the legacy of pirate and French settlement, explore the forests and the mangrove system, dive the reefs and the wrecks, snorkel, surf, watch village life and the whales, in season.

Day 12

Antananarivo

You will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Antananarivo where you will be met and transferred to stay overnight at Tamboho, breakfast included.

Day 13

Nairobi

You will be transferred to the airport to the Antananarivo check in for the Kenya Airways flight to London Heathrow via Nairobi.

Day 14

London

This morning you land in London.
