This wonderful tour gives you the opportunity to visit the very best of Guatemala and Honduras in just 12 days. In Guatemala, enjoy cultural and exciting adventures and activities such as textile tours and a stay near to the beautiful Lake Atitlan. In Honduras, visit a bird park and the Copan Ruins. For an amazing trip to both countries, taking in their customs, culture and history, this tour is ideal.

Itinerary

Day 1
Antigua
Arrive in Antigua (Guatemala) where you will be transferred to El Meson de Maria or El Convento for two nights.
Day 2
Maya Textile Tour & Antigua Architecture & History Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, you will enjoy a morning tour to learn about the handwoven textiles in Guatemala. After lunch, you will take a three to four hour walking town of the city seeing; the main square, Palace, Cathedral, San Francisco Church and La Merced Church. All entrance costs are included. (All meals are included today)
Day 3
AGAIG Fairly Traded Coffee
After breakfast, you will take a tour visiting some of the families who are supported by AGAIG (As Green as it Gets) organization which supports small coffee produces and promotes environmentally responsible agricultural in the country. You will then spend two nights at Hotel Atitlan or Posada de Santiago in Lake Atitlan. (All meals are included today)
Day 4
Lake Tour (San Juan, Santiago)
After breakfast in the hotel, you will enjoy a lovely lake ride across Lake Atitlan to San Juan La Laguna village where you can visit the women's textile cooperative to see hand weaving and natural dye process. You can also visit the studio and homes of the naif painters. You enjoy lunch in the village of Santiago at a local hotel and a tour of the village learning about the Maya God Maximon, textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T'zutujil Maya. (All meals are included today)
Day 5
Chichi Market
This morning, you will travel approximately an hour to the famous market at Chichi where you can shop and see Maya rituals being performed in the Catholic Church. Spend the night in Antigua at El Meson de Maria or El Convento. (All meals are included today)
Day 6
Copan (Honduras)
Today you will travel five hours into Honduras to the colonial village of Copan Ruinas. After your journey you can relax and explore the town with your guide. Spend two nights in Copan at Marina Copan or Hacienda San Lucas. (All meals are included today)
Day 7
Copan & Bird Park
This morning you will visit the Maya site of Copan where you can enjoy a guided tour and see the famous hieroglyphic staircase, ball court and museum. After lunch in Copan, you will go to the tropical bird park to see rescued birds. (All meals are included today)
Day 8
Rio Dulce via Quirigua
Today you will travel five hours through Guatemala to the tropical coastal area of Puerto Barrios. En route, visit the small Maya temple site at Quirigua. Having arrived in Puerto Barrios, you will enjoy a private boat ride to the Garifuna town of Livingston for dinner and one night at the Villa Caribe. This is the only english speaking community in Guatemala! (All meals are included today)
Day 9
Yaxha Sunset Tour
In the morning, you will take a boat cruise on the Rio Dulce River until the bridge where you will travel five hours to Yaxha National Park. You will then explore this lakeside site and enjoy refreshments and sunset views. Spend two nights at the Camino Real Tikal, La Lancha, Ni'tun Eco lodge or Villa Maya.(All meals are included today)
Day 10
Tikal
Travel approximately one hour to Tikal National Park where you will see the temple site of Tikal and monkeys and tropicals in the surrounding rainforest. (All meals are included today)
Day 11
Uaxactun Site & Community Tour
Travel to Uaxactun and see the site which is famous for having the oldest complete maya astronimical complex. The Chicleros or gum collectors also lived here for over one hundred years. Nowadays, the residents earn their living by gathering forest products to export. You will tour the site, visit the community and museum and learn about the chicle process and crafts. Afterwards, you will take an evening flight from Flores to Guatemala City where you will spend a night at the Westin Camino Real or Crowne Plaza. (All meals are included today)
Day 12
Guatemala City
Depart Guatemala.
