Chobe River and Okavango Delta Safari

Botswana

Immerse yourself in the unforgettable wilderness of Botswana, enjoying safaris in the spectacular Chobe National Park and the wild and watery Okavango Delta both vast stretches of iconic African landscapes filled with captivating wilderness. These two destinations are closely located to each other and in close proximity to airports, meaning you spend less time travelling and more time discovering these wonderful corners of Botswana.

Travel to Chobe National Park a sprawling 11,000km2 of diverse land and habitats dense with game. Spend three nights in Chobe Game Lodge a luxury five-star lodge with a stunning riverfront position, the best location to observe the huge variety of wildlife. The only lodge situated along the magnificent Chobe River, a vital life source threading through the park, Chobe Game Lodge is the perfect starting position for your three all-inclusive daily safari activities, a fantastic range letting you experience the wildlife from all angles. Home to the largest concentration of elephant in Africa; watch as dozens of the 40,000 population dot the riverbanks playing in the water, numerous antelope and puku gallop up for a drink while journeys of giraffe wander along the horizon.

From here travel by light aircraft to the Okavango Delta. A maze of deep lagoons, large lakes and meandering channels, the world’s largest inland delta is a tranquil oasis rich with diverse flora and fauna. The raw untouched nature of the Okavango Delta is always changing, the water levels rising, falling and flowing with the seasons creating a majestic and unique safari experience.

Camp Okavango found on the secluded Nxaragha Island is a hidden treasure encircled by the drama of the watery landscape. The extremely professional guide will navigate you through the reed-lined waterways as you roam the expanse of the delta. The Okavango Delta supports large concentrations of animals, an incredible number of game and the always close by predators; lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena in search for cape buffalo, giraffe, impala and zebra. And not forgetting the hippo which, while an herbivore, is the most dangerous animal of Africa.

Day 1
London – Johannesburg – Kasane
Fly from London to Kasane, Botswana, on a South African Airlines flight via Johannesburg. Flights from regional airports are available for similar prices, please enquire.
Days 2 - 4
Kasane Airport – Chobe National Park
Upon landing in Kasane, the gateway town to Chobe, you will be transferred the short distance to the Chobe Game Lodge. A quintessential Botswana safari camp filled with history you will be greeted with a friendly welcome before being shown to your en-suite room full of five-star amenities.

Your three night stay is fully inclusive, with Chobe Game Lodge organising your days to be as active or as relaxed as you please. Explore the four very distinct ecosystems of Chobe; the floodplains and riverfront in the northeast, the Savute Marsh in the west, the Linyanti swamps to the northwest and the hot dry land in between. Staying at the only lodge inside the National Park, the early morning game drives enter as the gates open meaning you have the best chance of tracking predators as the sun rises.

Take to the river on a safari boat cruise, sailing past herds of elephant, antelope and giraffe lining the water’s edge for a drink, pods of hippo wallowing in the mud of the river bank whilst keeping your eyes out for sightings of sly predators, the land bound lion and crocodile swimming through the water. For a slightly more tranquil but no less awe-inspiring experience take a moment to appreciate your stunning surroundings on the Chobe Boardwalk and Deck; an elevated 250 metre deck with the best views of the Park. With nothing but a slight elevation between you and the wildlife, an afternoon spent here is a wonderful way to spot the animals out of the confines of a vehicle. Enjoy refreshing drinks and delicious snacks while you look out onto the packs of lion and wild dog searching for their dinner.
