  • Caracol
  • Cayes & Islands
  • Cayo District
Day 1
Belize Airport - Cayo District
Arrive at Belize Airport and transfer to Chaa Creek Lodge or Pook's Hill.
Day 2
Xunantunich and San Ignacio
Today you will tour Xunantunich which is located on the banks of the Mopan River. During the end of the classic period (300-900 AD), this was a growing city and in the Mayan language means 'Stone Woman'. The tallest pyramid here is 'El Castillo' which is 130 foot high and is known for the band of stucco decoration which once spread around the whole temple. The centre of the town has six plazas with more than 25 temples and palaces.

Afterwards, we will explore San Ignacio.
Day 3
Caracol, Rio Frio Caves and Pools
Today we will travel to the wonderful Maya site of Caracol (Snail) or Oxwitza' as it was originally known meaning 'The Sky Place'. This is the largest site in Belize spread through 30 square miles of jungle. There are 5 plazas, an astronomic observatory and over 35, 000 buildings which have been identified. The massive pyramid Cana is capped by 3 temples and is 140 feet high!

Afterwards, we will enjoy a picnic lunch and en route back to the hotel, stop at the Rio-On Pools and Rio Frio Caves.
Day 4
Barton Creek & Butterfly Farm or Actun Tunichil Muknal
There is a choice of activities for the fourth day, you can enjoy a jungle experience to Actun Tunichil Muknal or a visit to a tropical butterfly farm and a canoe ride through a cave system.

To reach Actun Tunichil Muknal, you will trek 45 minutes through the jungle and steams and at the entrance of the cave also, swim and climb!

At the butterfly sanctuary you will learn about different species and then go to Barton Creek where you will travel in canoes into the Xibalba (Underworld) cave system. In this 7.5 kilometre cave system, you will learn about the crystal formations and how the cave was once used for ceremonial purposes and as a burial site.
Day 5
Belize Zoo and Ambergris Caye
We will first go to the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Centre which was founded in 1983 to give homes to wild animals which had been used in documentary films. The Belize Zoo is spread over 29 acres of tropical savannah and has over 125 native animals.

Afterwards, we will take a flight to Ambergris Caye and stay at Victoria House or Portofino Beach Resort.
Day 6
Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley
Visit Hol Chan where you will see splendid marine life and a large coral garden with stag horn corals and sea fans. Hol Chan meaning 'Little Channel' in Mayan is a natural break on the barrier reef where the ocean is between 3-30 feet.

Shark Ray Alley has shallow water so you will be able to snorkel here and enjoy swimming with harmless nurse sharks and southern stingrays.

You can spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing or exploring the island on your own.
Day 7
Beach
Spend a day relaxing on the beach or we can book an excursion or activity for you!
