Estancias Tour in the Northwest

On arrival at the airport you will be transferred to your local flight to Salta and onto your hotel, El Bordo de las Lanzas. You will then go on a city tour seeing the Cathedral, San Francisco Church and San Bernardo Hill. (Dinner).

After breakfast you will depart for a day trip to Humahuaca’s Gorge and visit villages such as, Pumamarca which has a handicraft fair and Tilcara which has a pre-Columbian fortress which has been partially reconstructed and Uquia which has a parish church with paintings yielding from Cuzco. Humahuaca itself was established in 1594 by the Aborigines and has a church, old town hall and independence monument. En route to Salta, you will stop off at Maimara to see the Painter’s Palette (rock formations) and finally at San Salvador de Jujuy where you can visit the main square, Cathedral, Town Hall and Government House. (Dinner).

After breakfast you will leave for a tour of the Calchaqui Valleys where you will see beautiful scenery including, Chicoana, the condor’s home, Recta del Tin and Los Cardones National Park. Upon arrival at Cachi you will visit the archaeological museum and church in the ancient town. Heading to Cafayate, you will travel on mountain roads and pass the Quebrada de las Flechas which is a rock ravine 20 metres high. In Cafayate you will check-in to Estancia el Chimpa. (Dinner only. Lunch not included).

You will start the day by visiting Cafayate’s Gorge where rock formations have been given special names dependent on their shape by the locals. Afterwards you can go horseback riding in the pretty Los Medanos. (Picnic lunch and dinner)

En route to Tafi del Valle you will stop off at Pucara of the Quilmes. Later today you will check in at Estancia Las Carreras.

Before transferring to the airport, you will stop off at Tucuman city where you will visit the main square, Tucuman’s house and the cathedral.
