Salta-Humahuaca’s Gorge-Salta
After breakfast you will depart for a day trip to Humahuaca’s Gorge and visit villages such as, Pumamarca which has a handicraft fair and Tilcara which has a pre-Columbian fortress which has been partially reconstructed and Uquia which has a parish church with paintings yielding from Cuzco. Humahuaca itself was established in 1594 by the Aborigines and has a church, old town hall and independence monument. En route to Salta, you will stop off at Maimara to see the Painter’s Palette (rock formations) and finally at San Salvador de Jujuy where you can visit the main square, Cathedral, Town Hall and Government House.
