Holidays in Peru
Cuzco and the Sacred Valley
Most Peru holidays take in Cuzco, a beautiful Spanish colonial city built on Inca foundations. It is at its most colourful in late June during the annual Inca Inti Raymi Festival. Between Cuzco and Machu Picchu is another 'must see' the Urubamba or more commonly called Sacred Valley, with its many colourful markets and Inca ruins.
Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon & Arequipa
Also situated in Southern Peru, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world and is the gateway to cross into Bolivia. To the south west, the Colca Canyon is deeper than the Grand Canyon and is visited for both its extraordinary beauty and because it offers a unique opportunity to spend time watching the beautiful condor. Nearby Arequipa is an attractive colonial city with cobbled streets and is typically included on most Peru holiday itineraries.
Peru is one of a number of countries from which you can enjoy the Amazon Rainforest. You can stay in jungle lodges reached from Puerto Maldonado, or set off from Iquitos on a comfortable cruise or expedition on the world’s most famous river.
