Ghost Mountain Inn is a friendly, comfortable country hotel close to Mkuze Reserve, just off the N2, the main trunk road running north-south through eastern KwaZulu Natal. The inn has been extensively refurbished and offers a wide range of bird and game viewing activities. It provides an affordable base for all Maputaland activities. A hike up Ghost Mountain will take you to a magnificent view of the Lebombo Mountain Range and the plains beyond. With over 450 species, Mkuze Game Reserve is famous for its birding. Species include the endemic Pinkthroated twinspot, Rudd's apalis and Neergard's sunbird, along with 'specials' such as African broadbill and Green malkoha. The Mkuze River Bird Walk is a lovely way to search for birds. The Mkuze Game Reserve protects a range of wildlife, including both black and white rhino.
