Doro Nawas is situated on a small hill above the dry Aba-Huab river, overlooking the ancient plains of southern Damaraland. This camp is a real gem and a firm favourite with our clients who regularly comment on the friendly service and unbelievable views. The 16 comfortable thatched rooms at Doro Nawas Camp are designed to blend into the surrounding scenery and offer luxury in the midst of the desert. Each has a private verandah and sleep-outs are popular here, as are the outdoor showers. This is prime desert elephant territory and herds traverse the riverbed in search of water and food. Doro Nawas also offers 4WD drives to seek game and generally explore the area. There are guided visits to the rock art site at nearby Twyfelfontein, but self-drive guests can easily visit these sites in their own time. Dora Nawas is joint venture between Wilderness Safaris and the local community.
We were out of season [in February] (no elephants) so the Doro Nawas lodge was pretty empty. We were very well looked after. The food, service, location and facilities were excellent.

Very efficiently run and friendly. Very enjoyable elephant tracking and star gazing at Doro Nawas. Activities a bit expensive

A very luxurious private lodge with a bed that can be pulled out to sleep under the stars. Great attention to detail like a cold flannel on arrival, the staff singing local songs after dinner and hot water bottles put in your bed. The food wasn’t as good as Desert Homestead tough and activities were overpriced.
