Berenty Lodge has 31 en-suite rooms and recently saw a substantial refurbishment. The lodge is opposite Malaza Forest, in one of Madagascar’s oldest reserves, established by the De Heaulme family in 1937.

Breakfasts are served in the snack-bar, near the bungalows, from where you can watch wildlife while you dine. There is a recently renovated restaurant with a fixed menu and nearby, a fascinating museum focusing on Antandroy culture. Rare artifacts in the museum include erotic wooden carvings of the Sakalava people.

Wildlife is abundant in the grounds of the lodge and broad trails fan out from here into the reserve. Visitors should be aware that electricity is not provided 24/7  - the generators are switched off at 22h00 so those who enjoy bedtime reading should pack a halogen or battery-operated lamp.

2015, 2016, 2017 and early 2018 reviews indicate excellent improvements in terms of service, facilities and food, with reports in general being extremely positive.
