MOUNTAIN GORILLAS NEST LODGE is a modern lodge, right by the trailhead for gorilla trekking, and this is where nearly everyone stays. There are 50 rooms in double chalets grouped around a central garden area in a nice wooded location.
Rooms are variable - comfortable but smallish, apart from the two VIP rooms. Most are brick built in a circle with a central garden, but a few older rooms are timber built and back in the woods. All rooms sometimes experience plumbing problems, and the hotel is prone to occasional power cuts. Rooms face either the volcanoes or the high hills of Ruhengeri.
There is a lively restaurant and bar, the food is variable but can be good here. Most evenings there will be some kind of musical entertainment, and/ or traditional dancers.
